Job Guidance

The Via Lingua job guidance program assists all successful graduates of our TEFL course in finding a TEFL teaching position suitable for them. Via Lingua has a wide network of global contacts and is therefore able to provide up-to-date information and advice regarding working in numerous destinations all around the world.

In some locations, we are able to guarantee employment locally after completing the course. In all of our course locations, we can and do provide you with professional and ongoing assistance in finding that crucial first TEFL teaching job. We have schools and offices all around the world, all of which you'll be welcome to visit or to contact for help, irrespective of where you originally took your TEFL course.

Our job guidance program is global and not necessarily restricted to locations where we have TEFL training centers. We now have over 3,500 graduates working in almost 100 different countries worldwide. We like to keep in contact with as many of our past trainees as possible, wherever in the world they may be, through a regular newsletter and through our local and worldwide contact offices. This in turn enables us to continue to assist current and future graduates through a unique and ever-expanding network of contacts and communication.

During and after your TEFL course, you will receive job guidance and assistance including all of the following:

  • Professional advice on adapting and preparing your resume for TEFL teaching and in writing a corresponding cover letter.
  • Open-group question and answer sessions on all aspects of the international EFL market with your on-site career guidance counselor.
  • Individual career guidance sessions with your career guidance counselor to discuss you own aims, wishes, options and objectives.
  • Professional advice on EFL interview structures and techniques. This can include a mock job interview if requested.
  • Lists of and contacts for local and national schools, both in the country where you are taking the course, or in any other country where you may wish to work.
  • Details of job vacancies received by Via Lingua both locally and internationally in numerous different locations around the world. Many of these are exclusive to VL and are not posted on the internet or otherwise advertised elsewhere.
  • Ongoing lifelong help and guidance after completing the course from all Via Lingua centers worldwide. Wherever you want to work tomorrow, the chances are we know someone in the area who can help you.
  • Professional references on request at any time from your course tutors.
  • Information and employment preference on a number of short-term and long-term work experience options run by Via Lingua at various times around the world, throughout Europe, Africa, Australia, Asia and Latin America.
  • The continuing services of your personal job guidance counselor, both on-site and in person while you're taking your course, and by personal email/phone contact at any time afterwards.
  • From December 2004: Your personalized username and password to our exclusive job guidance and assistance website, containing thousands of school contacts, emails and addresses, practical information about living and working in almost every country worldwide, information and news from past VL graduates around the world and many jobs advertised exclusively to Via Lingua graduates.
  • A copy of Via Lingua's regular newsletter which is distributed on request to all of our graduates and contains news, updates, features and information on all of the above aspects and more. You'll also be welcome to contribute with your own news and feedback from wherever you are
